It looks horrible.
Prefers blackboard when it is something to hand in such as discussion board last year
but prefers tumblr - to use for personal use.
personally don’t like blackboard never really use them - just to check course documents.
Facebook used Skype - speaking with designers in Skype discussion boards that would connect me with real designer in the industry…
Forums General - ask a question…
- Blackboard… is useless… course document - just if it was better designed if the site is badly designed refuse to use it

From the survey I’ve learned that students mostly use it to download course documents such as power point presentation, the briefs and assignments.
Most student also submit their work using the discussion boards and TurnitIn
Only one person use the Podcast
Most students in other uni use blackboard to look at timetables and deadlines
However most student have not used other student services or even heard of it even the students who are international go to the Office to ask any questions.

Northumbria university use a system called eLearning Portal to aid students in their learning.
It is a website where students can access learning materials such as power point presentations, briefs and module course, and upcoming classes.
Links to website anything that will aid your learning.
eLearning Portal is powered by blackboard a company that creates and develop a technology/a website that helps improve the aspect of education by enabling people to engage students in learning by connecting and keeping students informed, involved and collaborating together.
Run by LTech team of university.
Most students believed that using Blackboard is a waste of time as they only get course documents from there… which can be done by e-mail - however this depends on the tutor on how much they force students to use it.
Jamie Steane a professor has forced students to use blackboard discussion board (in Professional Practice where IMD and Graphic designers are combined together which equals to 100 students) to help students to give feedback to each other… this allowed students to work together in a big class where people don’t know each other to work together and at the same time be able to contribute their ideas.
However professors still avoid it as they find blackboard as limiting so they either create a their own version trevsfiles or use facebook.
Teachers believe that education experience will be more successful if it is brought to where students usually go to. Facebook is used by University students more often than blackboard because this allows them to socialise and connect with people.
They believe that Blackboard should be more integrated in our education especially in the design side as feedback is needed to improve our learning and work.
A student has suggested to have a calendar implemented to show important dates and hand in. <!—table {mso-displayed-decimal-separator:”.”; mso-displayed-thousand-separator:”,”;} td {padding-top:1px; padding-right:1px; padding-left:1px; mso-ignore:padding; color:black; font-size:11.0pt; font-weight:400; font-style:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Calibri, sans-serif; mso-font-charset:0; mso-number-format:General; text-align:general; vertical-align:bottom; border:none; mso-background-source:auto; mso-pattern:auto; mso-protection:locked visible; white-space:nowrap; mso-rotate:0;} .xl24 {color:#333333; font-size:7.0pt; text-align:center; vertical-align:middle; border:.5pt solid windowtext; white-space:normal;} ruby {ruby-align:left;} rt {color:windowtext; font-size:8.0pt; font-weight:400; font-style:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Verdana; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-charset:0; mso-char-type:none; display:none;} —>
A calendar feature that showed all important dates and hand in dates would be good
Limitations of Blackboard.
Can’t really access this when you finish university.
